Q: Is it possible to connect an Apple LED Cinema Display with a Mac Pro?
Will it make a superior desktop?
What are the benefits of doing this?
A: Yes it's possible. An LED Cinema display is a high quality monitor, but it's not necessary nor are there necessarily any performance improvements from using it over a comparable off-brand LCD, like Samsung (a major high quality vendor of LCD's). The benefits are that it looks nice. Also realize it's going to cost about 2-3 times as much as any other brand of LCD, simply because it has the Apple logo on it.
Q: Anyone got an Apple LED Cinema Display and what do you think of it?

Has anyone got this or planning to? What do you think of it? Like does it work nicely?
A: They do not ship until sometime in November; although they have them on display at your local Apple Retail Store. I saw one, and it looks like the iMac display. It looked great, although it had a bad glare and reflection. Personally, I prefer the older Apple cinema display. It looks like the old iMac "the white one" it is anti glare, has a great picture, and shows great detail. They still sell the older displays and they cost $599 while the LED displays cost $899, but the LED is 4 inches bigger. If you wanted the older display you can also get it in 23 inches for $899, or 30 inches for $1,799. So you have many choices!

Q: New Apple LED Cinema Display compatible?
Does anyone know if the new Apple Cinema Display 24 inch LED is compatible with PCs? More precisely a Dell Vostro 1400?
Are any of the old ones?
Thank you
A: The LED Cinema Display only works with computer that have a DisplayPort output on its video card.
If your Vostro does not have a graphics card with a DisplayPort output, it won't work.
Q: Where can I find a shop that sells the new Apple LED Cinema Displays in Riyadh?

Q: Is there a way to use the new Apple LED Cinema Display with my old macbook?
I just found out that they came out with a new display and i like it a lot but i have the older version of the macbook the previous generation that i got in june. i really want a display that i can put on my desk and connect my laptop to act as a desktop. if this is not possible are there any other decent displays i could use for my macbook?
A: Beginning with the new products they announced today, Apple is transitioning its product line to begin using Mini DisplayPort connectors. This includes the new LED-backlit 24" Cinema Display, which has dropped DVI in favour of using a Mini DisplayPort connection. Unfortunately, this means that unless a DVI (or MiniDVI)-to-Mini DisplayPort adapter becomes available, the newest Cinema Display is only compatible with the new notebooks introduced today and other computers that will be introduced later on. Unless you make a living doing high-end professional graphics work, though, you can certainly get away with buying a less expensive display. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!
Q: Is it possible to connect a DirectTV cable box to an Apple LED Cinema Display?
A: Like most Apple equipment, it's not very versitile. Unlike all other monitors, this one is specific for its purpose.
Q: Can the new Apple LED Cinema Display connect with the Mac mini?
A: Unfortunately, no.
The LED Cinema Display uses a new interface called DisplayPort, which is not compatible with DVI (what the current Mac mini uses).
Future versions of the Mac Mini might have DisplayPort though.
Currently, the only Mac that works with the LED Cinema Display is the newest Macbook, which is equipped with DisplayPort.
Q: new apple cinema display connecting to wii?
im buying a macbook and theres an option to get a big screen called the LED cinema display. i was wondering if i could use this to connect to my wii and use as a tv screen since its 24"
A: no, the 24" uses displayport, and there is (currently) no composite/component-displayport adaptor.
Q: Connect XBOX 360 with Cinema Display?
What cables would i need to connect the NEW Apple LED Cinema Display with my XBOX 360?
A: Xbox is a Microsoft product, i don't think it'll work with any Apple products.
Q: Apple MAC Cinema Display - A1082 Is it good?
Ok I have been looking for a new monitor, I am choosing to watch this seller (http://stores.ebay.com/IT-bySMART) because I have had excellent dealings with him in the past (I have purchased from him a Dell, HP, IBM and now I am searching for a monitor - all used, all inexpesive and all a great deal).
Any how a few weeks ago he had a Dell UltraSharp 1901FP and the only response I got was.. keep looking.. so I am.
Now he has a Apple Cinema Display - A1082
Tell me, is this ia good deal? I know they are expensive new but wow a few of the reviews I read lead me to believe this is a very, very, very nice monitor.

Q: Interesting News Update for 1-18-08 (Cloverfield)?
JJ Abrams revealed at Comic Con a few days ago that the source of his inspiration for 1-18-08 (as it's currently called) was a recent trip to Japan. He was quoted as saying "We need our own Godzilla!". This may put a dent into the speculation that it was in fact a new "Godzilla" movie, it does give a glimpse into what JJ Abrams has planned.
Today, maniac scooper "snallygaster" sent word of a Entertainment Weekly feature they published today. It's a very clear look at the newly released Comic Con poster. You can see a "water trail" like something monstrous is traveling underwater towards the Big Apple.
The earlier project name "Cloverfield" comes from a LA Street name where JJ Abrams has an office.
If you're looking at that gargantuan hole bored in the Manhattan skyline and thinking, It's a monster movie! — congrats, you're right. Scripted by Lost writer Drew Goddard, the movie reunites producer Abrams with Felicity co-creator Matt Reeves, who's directing and shooting it ciJJ Abrams revealed at Comic Con a few days ago that the source of his inspiration for 1-18-08 (as it's currently called) was a recent trip to Japan. Scripted by Lost writer Drew Goddard, the movie reunites producer Abrams with Felicity co-creator Matt Reeves, who's directing and shooting it cinema-verité-style on digital video. (Think Blair Witch and the City.)
The cast is made up of relative unknowns, with the lead being played by Michael Stahl-David (The Black Donnellys). As for the monster itself, contrary to Internet speculation, it isn't a parasite, and it ain't a colossal Asian robot, either. (Some suspected Abrams was mounting a live-action version of the Japanese anime/manga classic Voltron. Nope.)
Perhaps this will put to rest us getting "It's called PARASITE" everytime I publish a 1-18-08 article. Perhaps not.
Big thanks to scooper and Maniac comrade, snallygaster, for shooting the email my direction.
sorry for the repeat but i didnt think it got everything.
Does the world need another Godzilla?
The original creator of Godzilla retired him a few years ago with Final Wars.
Why bring a new one.
A: Godzilla was originally created as a commentary on man's destruction to the earth - the radioactivity from underground nuclear testing caused Godzilla to mutate, creating a giant terror. When man plays with things he doesn't fully understand, problems result. Most good sci-fi is about more than creatures and aliens.
As long as JJ Abrams is creating a sci-fi movie that's more than a special effects marathon (like Bruckheimer's projects) then I'm cool with Cloverfield. But it depends on the context.
