Q: How Do I Change The Upper & Lower Drivers On My LG Plasma Tv 42 inch Model # RU-42PX11?
My plasma tv plays for about 45 minutes then starts blinking to a black screen then back to the picture. The picture is fine no lines, and very clear. A tv repair guy said I needed to replace the drivers upper & lower ($230 parts). The LG sevice center said also told me to replace the main Y driver ($280 part), but for right now I only have enough for the upper & lower driver: $250.00.
A: Well it MAY BE those boards...BUT....
The blinking part makes me think to RESEAT THE RIBBON cables FIRST....
I suspect the TV Tech did that, right?
IF HE SAYS replace the driver boards, then believe him MORE than LG...LG wasn't in your home...TV TECH was....
Now, if you want to replace them yourself, be VERY VERY VERY CAREFUL about seating the Ribbon cables PROPERLY into the sockets...if you don't you can DAMAGE THE SOCKETS !! They'll pop into a couple pieces if not seated correctly....and then you'll have to find the socket parts too....(in that Big Fluffy Carpet, or on that solid floor that makes the parts fly about 50 miles away from the service area !)
Yeah, it isn't as easy as you think it is.....those little tiny ribbon locks are a PAIN to find if they pop off....
TV Tech eyes are TRAINED to lock in on flying objects and follow them to the LZ.....then they initiate a sweep pattern over the LZ to sense the object and get it off the floor.
Then they Delicately Reinstall the parts, like a jeweler does.....
and try the ribbon install again....
Oh, even a TV tech can THINK he has it properly SEATED...but just 1/10 of a mm off, and KA-SPROING !!!
Locking on target! Locking on target! No Target lock!
I repeat....No Target lock!
Initiating WIDE AREA search.....Looking visually for it in the OVERGROWN CARPET JUNGLE....
Feeling for it in the OVERGROWN CARPET JUNGLE...
I need AGENT ORANGE here folks....
And wait until it hits solid flooring....and ricochets!
I actually would rather have YOU do it......than me.

Q: 50" LG Plasma TV and a PS3 What is an affordable surround sound system?
I have an LG 50" Plasma and an HD-PVR Receiver as well as PS3 all hooked up via HDMI and now i am looking for a good surround sound system that wont break the bank. Any ideas ? any info would be much appreciated. The room they are all in really isn't that big but i do want the best sound quality i can get at an affordable price of course.
Thanks,
Adam
A: Ignore the first answer which was just spam.
Try looking at some equipment on amazon.com. They sell a lot of gear, and other stores sell through them, as well, so you will see a lot of gear, with a lot of user reviews. Their prices are often better than what you'd get in an actual store.
The first issue is your budget. How much do you want to spend. That will affect your range of choices. Then, do you want a 5.1 system, or a 7.1 ?
You could also split that difference by getting a 7.1 receiver, and a 5.1 set of speakers, with a plan to get two more speakers in the future.
Generally, you will want at least $400-500 to start for a decent system. More $$$ gets you more choices and even better gear.
A good choice for speakers is a Polk system, model 6750, that can be had for about $250. Add a $200 5.1 receiver, and you're good to go.
Good brands include Harmon Kardon, Yamaha, Denon, and Onkyo for receivers. For speakers, Infinity, JBL and Polk are good choices. Avoid, at all costs, Sony (For both receivers and speakers) and Bose.
Good hunting.

Q: how can i extend a warranty from an LG plasma tv 42pc3d?
hi I bought a LG Plasma tv 42PC3D two years ago on september and i had problems this year before the warranty ended but I only have one more day and I want to see where can I upgrade my warranty with the company? please help me because I don't know where to go or what to do to solve this..
A: You can't, you might be able to contact the retailer and ask if you still have the option of purchasing an extended warranty... I'd prefer getting home contents insurance with accidental damage cover, and if the TV does fault, and there is a major cost involved, just push it over and you get a new TV at the original cost of the TV.
Q: I have a LG plasma tv, and i have a psp with universal remote, where can i get the code to control my tv?
the code so i can put it in the remotes folder. Please answer.
A: If you can't find it here, you are probably SOL. Also, remember that a "universal" might well not control all TV functions!

Q: Toshiba Satellite Laptop to LG Plasma Tv?
I just bought Sentana Broadband and want to watch it on my plasma tv through my laptop.
Laptop - Toshiba Satellite Pro a200....I think. VGA output.
Tv - LG Plasma with in-built tuner. It has a VGA input.
I have a VGA cable and an audio cable.
Can someone please help me, I have tried to connect it but i cannot get it to work, all i can get is audio.
A: if your tv has vga input then you just need to connect the two, and make sure your computer resolution and refresh rate is set to one that the tv can accept. If it has a vga input the manual should tell you what resolutions/rates are accepted.
Q: I have a 42" LG plasma tv and i seem to get lines across the screen.?
The lines mentioned not always there, depending of chanel that tv is on.
Sometimes is like blotches on peoples faces, the only thing that helps is turning brigheteness down but then picture is dark.
A: You are getting interfernce from some electrical wiring near your tv.The noise is causing the lines

Q: Best viewing distance - 42 inch plasma LG tv...?
I have a 42 inch LG plasma TV. What is the optimal viewing distance ?
A: There are several factors that will influence the optimal viewing distance for a display including:
• The visual acuity of the viewer/observer;
• The size and characteristics of the display, including the performance of internal image and video processing as well as the adjustments of the display's settings;
• The ambient lighting conditions of the viewing environment;
• The quality of the HD content one chooses to view, which is influenced greatly by the video codec and compression algorithm, bitrate and other options used to encode (and transmit) the video content.
Nevertheless, the following are the approximate optimal viewing distances for various 42-inch displays:
For a 1920×1080p HD display: 64 inches
For a 1365×768p HD display: 91 inches
For a 1280×720p HD display: 98 inches
For a 854×480p ED display: 147 inches

Q: LG Plasma TV Help with Captions?
I recently bought a new 50" LG Plasma TV and got everything all hooked up just fine. However, on 3 or 4 channels (including some HD channels) captions pop up and when I go to try and turn them off it won't let me as the TV thinks they are already de-activated. So, I have no idea how to get rid of these annoying captions and they take up a large portion of the upper part of the screen! Please help and thank you!
A: if there's a button on ur remote thats labeled "C.C" or says closed caption, press it until it says off. If there isnt a button on ur remote, go to the TV's menu and go to edit channels (or something that has to do with channels) and a list should pop-up saying things like: lable channels, change language, Closed Caption, etc. if there is a closed caption thing go on it, and a little label should appear saying if the captions are on or off.
Q: How do I connect my laptop computer to my LG Plasma TV? Which cable do I need?
A: Well it depends on your connections. You need either a VGA, DVI, S-video or HDMI. You can get adapters for all of these.
Q: Question about a LG Plasma TV?
I just picked up a 50 inch LG plasma/HD TV and the screen is really crappy, it's like fuzzy/blurry, anybody know why this would be if it is supposed to be HD or picture perfect?
A: do you have High definition channels from your cable company or sattelite company ? Having a High Def TV does not mean you get channels in High Definition, it means that you can recieve High Definition from your cable company. It is like math 1+1=2
