Q: What is the largest self -service electronics store chain in Germany?
I am travelling soon to Germany and would like to buy some electronic stuff like Braun or Philips but not from small shops. Im sure Germany, being advanced in electronics production, has some large electronic or cash and carry shop with self service, at least in the big cities.

A: My guess, Mediamarkt is one of the biggest, if not the biggest. Aswell SATURN. Both advertise weekly big time in most newspapers and they are in all bigger cities and towns. Best selection and very good prices

Q: What cables will i need to hook up my new electronics to my tv?
The tv in getting is a 42" Philips Full HD (1080p) Widescreen LCD TV model 42PFL7422D/37. I will be hooking up a PS3, dvd covertor 480p to 1080p, insignia 500w home theatre, and a laptop?

A: You will likely want an HDMI cable for the PS3.. for the best connection. Either an HDMI or component cables for the DVD upconverting player, depending on what it supports. For the surround sound it depends. If your sound system takes HDMI and outputs it (for the video) back to your TV, use that. Or you may wish to plug everything to your TV, then use your TVs digital audio outputs (which newer screens should have) which will normally be TOSLINK unless it supports HDMI audio out. As for the laptop, it depends on what output it supposes. Some newer fancier laptops can ouput HDMI.. in which case use that. Some might do DVI... in which case all you need is a DVI to HDMI cable (unless your TV has DVI inputs). If your laptop does VGA monitor out... then you'll need for your TV to have a VGA input... or perhaps a VGA to component adapter will work... depending on what kind of component signals your TV accepts. There are also more expensive VGA to TV converter boxes you could buy. S-Video out is also an option.. and many laptops have it... but the quality/resolution will be far lower then the other options I mentioned.. because S-Video can only do standard definition (non-HD). I do believe some of the higher possible quality Blu-Ray audio tracks may not bitstream over TOSLINK and may require HDMI to bitstream into a surround sound system. If you want to give the model number of your surround sound system.. I can be more certain on how you'd need/want to hook it up. Also, if you want to give the model # of the laptop.. I can tell for sure on that as well. Also.. you have a PS3 and a DVD upconverter.... but the PS3 also plays DVDs and I believe it might do the upconversion as well (don't quote me on that though). If I were you I'd try comparing the quality difference between the two (once everything is properly setup with the best connectors). It's possible you might not even need the DVD player.

Q: i want to buy a hair removal device? can i go for philips?
1)These devices are electronics ( i means we can use batteries) or electric. please suggest any device which use batteries. 2) any side effects on skin like darkening etc, if we use this devices?

A: Phillips is good for personal care. Initially you will have some side effects but once your skin gets used to your hair removal device blades, you will have no problem. Phillips says "if problem persists, consult your physician". I personally use phillips electric shaver (battery operated). I had some erruptions for some 7 days (i.e., shaving 7 times), then they subsided and right now it's around 2.5+ years and no problem with my skin, with the device and amazingly I did not have to change the blade till today.

Q: If a company has already gone public with an IPO, why do they continue to conduct roadshows?
I work for a limo company and I see several roadshows going on for LP Philips LCD, LG Electronics, etc., and they have already gone public since 2004 - why the need to keep doing roadshows?

A: Since they are public companies, they are required to provide regular updates to the their investors. Roadshows are usually aimed toward institutional investors and provide an additional way of releasing additional information about a company. A company can also be trying to find out if there is any interest in an additional IPO or debt offering by meeting with the institutional investment community.

Q: I am not an electronics engineer nor do I haev a track record of doing things electronics in a good way.?
I applied to Philips to work as an Electronics Engineer. They said you have a bad track record and you dont have the qualifications. I am very angry that they are not trusting me, and they dont know who I am. They told me you are stupid, incompetent, have a bad track record, selfish, and you dont meet my requirements. I asked them back in that case, the Japanese peole have more experience and expertise in electronics than Indians have. Why Philips is in India and not in Japan? Can somebody clarify me please. I am very angry with Philips because they told me I am UNFIT for a SERVICE post with philips, based on past track record. > Maybe they just didn't need any more engineers at the time, and the HR person was in a bad mood when they called you to tell you that you didn't meet their needs. > I do know they need only one engineer, and then they were looking to hire more as and when the need arises. The HR Person was in a bad mood because of my behavior in the first place.

A: Too much missing info! More details, please!

Q: Why are Pioneer electronics so good?
I mean, there are other strong names like Sony, Philips, Panasonic, etc, but why are Pioneer products so good? I've never heard many negative things about their products. Does anyone have a theory or reason? I've had many of their products and they all have been very reliable versus some other names I've had like Philips and they had problems.

A: Pioneer is definitely a stellar brand of electronics. They have manufacured stereo & studio equipment for several decades and are now the leading manufacturer of professional standard CDJ technology. The reason for this is that they do not sacrifice quality for quantity. Many other manufacturers have fallen below the satisfactory level, simply because they have loosened up on the quality of the parts and labour to gradually maximize a profit out of their trusted brand name. Pioneer focuses on practicality first, before trying to make the product look flashy and fancy to the lesser-skilled eye. Some other manufacturers have the same re-occuring problems in their equipment, but I've never had a problem with Pioneer, and I have purchased thousands of dollars worth of DJ and Stereo equipment from them over the years. When purchasing new equipment, the trick is to not take anyone's word for it. RESEARCH THE PRODUCT BEFORE YOU SPEND THE MONEY! Check reviews online, watch reviews on youtube, e-mail DJs / Other Musicians / & record labels and ask them what they have to say. Never accept anything the salesman says as fact when he is talking about the quality. Educate yourself before you go into the store.

Q: Problems with Philips TV?
Have a 37 inch Philips LCD TV. From day 1 I have had nothing but problems where the TV changes Chanel's from AV1 to AV2 to HMDI etc, and loose picture, you flick it back it does it again. I can go for weeks like this then it sorts itself out. Philips sent out RAY JACK ELECTRONICS who replaced the board and admitted that the boards are inferior. Same problem within a week or 2. Calling PHILIPS is of no use the operators are scripted and suggest you call out the same people who reapired it last time. They keep this going till the warranty runs out then you are stuck with a TV that is mostly unwatchable, the customer service is non existent, and higher blood pressure with a lower bank balance. I wont get into the fact that the TV switches itself on in the middle of the night or the AMBILIGHT lasted about 6 months For those considering buying a PHILIPS tv, BE AWARE!!

A: Yep. I was looking at Phillips TVs because I found so many awesome deals out there that it looked too good to be true. I researched it more and I found that a lot of people have had bad experiences with their Phillips TVs and worst of all, the company's customer service is really bad. Sorry to hear about your problems.

Q: Are Emerson Electronics of good quality?
I am thinking about buying an HD Emerson TV...it is a little cheaper than the Samsung, and Philips ones....so I am wondering if that brand is any good...

A: not to good. I work at best buy and read consumer reports and can tell you that that kind is not of the good qualtiy or excellent quality, yeah good price but not for your moneys worth considering your buying a tv that is hd and you will keep for a while. When you think of brands you have to think about their reliability. Will i need to repair this in the next four years? two years? Panasonic has the most reliable tvs out, hands down. Sony , Samsung, Sharp, Toshiba, and JVC are tied for 2nd in need for repair. In terms of quality, Sony and Samsung lead the way. If you want a good deal, look at the westinghouse. They are surprisingly of great quality with cheaper prices.
