Q: How do I achieve the Best Quality Video with my Samsung TV and Blu Ray?
How do I achieve the best quality picture and video with my Samsung LN40A550 and my Samsung Blu Ray Player? What techniques and settings are the best?
A: Use a HDMI cable. Inexpensive works fine as long as the runs are less than about 12 feet.
Buy a copy of the BluRay version of Digital Video Essentials. Use the tutorials to adjust the color/brightness/contrast between your BluRay player and your TV.
You cannot simply use anyone elses numbers because your equipment is different from others. The adjustments are there BECAUSE of these differences.
Many Pixar disks like the new Wall-E disk have simple test patterns and instructions, but Digital Video Essentials is better.
Q: How can I connect my Samsung Blu Ray player to the internet?
I have a samsung blu ray player that has an ethernet jack to connect to the internet...but my hub is downstairs and running a wire isn't an option. I have wireless throughout the house...is there a way to transmit the wireless signal to *something*, then run the ethernet cable from that to the blue ray player. Thanks. Look forward to hearing some ideas cause now I'm stuck.
A: I had the same problem, if you're wireless router is a G series (80211.g) all you need is a range expander. I picked up the Linksys WRE54G which plugs into an electric wall outlet. The WRE54G connects to my 80211.g router wirelessly. The WRE54G has a ethernet port on it that I run into my Blu-Ray player and all works well.
If your Blu-Ray player is a Samsung BDP-1500 you might need two things to enable the BRLive feature. 1: You'll need to update the firmware (see Samsung website for instructions) 2. You'll need to plug in a USB flash drive into the back with at least 1-GB of space (this is required for external storage). All of this should be stated in the users guide, but a lot of people just expect to be able to plug in the ethernet cable and everything "just work", unfortunately it's not that simple.
Q: Does anyone know how to upgrade the firware on a Samsung BD-P1000 Blu-ray player?
My husband purchased a Samsung Blu-ray player from ebay and we've been advised to upgrade the firmware. He's found the software online but now can't seem to transfer it to a disc successfully to install it on the player. We've since found out this is a common problem with this model. Anyone have any helpful advice?
A: They all work slightly differently, but there are usually detailed instructions on the company website (See the 2nd link).
Basically you download the update file, unZip if necessary, and burn to a CD or DVD as an ISO image (You CAN'T just copy the file). You can do this with Nero or other commercial software (or there is freeware iso burning software .. see link for one).
Put the iso DVD in the player and navigate via the menu system on the player to the maintenance (or whatever) menu and select update firmware.
Remember to not interrupt the process or turn off the player until the process is complete (it can take up to 30 min on some machines) or you can ruin the player!
Q: im looking at buying a samsung LCD and a samsung Blu Ray player?
How have your experiences with them gone? And how long is the longevity of these items?
A: I have a Samsung LN40650A on the wall in my bedroom and it has been outstanding, though even with their 120Hz refresh technology, I still get motion blur. I can't speak to longevity as I have not had it very long, but picture quality and features are excellent. Remote is nice too, but I don't care for the ipod-style jog dial for navigating the settings.
Q: How do you turn off bonus view on a samsung blu ray player?
Meaning the icon in the top left of the screen
A: Try hitting "pop up menu" then "info" and the "pop up menu" again on the remote while the movie is playing. It doesn't make sense but it seems to work.
Q: How do you hook up Sony TV (HDMI)/direct tv/samsung blu ray 1400 player?
A: You probably need an HDMI switcher.
Check this place out, I frequent often, and they have great prices and great customer service.
If you only have one HDMI input on your TV, this is what you will need:

You will get the idea, if you have more than one HDMI input, than you should be able to just run HDMI inputs from each device to different HDMI inputs on the TV. But if you only have one input the above will likely be necessary.
Q: My Samsung Blu-ray Disc Player won't read Blu-ray discs?
Hello, I have a Samsung Blu-ray Disc Player, BD-P1000 and although it plays regular DVDs just fine, when I insert a Blu-ray disc it takes a very long time to load and eventually tells me that 'The Disc Cannot be Read' or something like that.
Please help, thank you.
A: This is one of the early players so it may not be able to read the latests BD discs.
Go to the Samsung web site and download a firmware upgrade.
You will need a CD burner to burn the s/w and then you insert it in the player. There are detailed instructions on the web.
Or call samsung support.
Q: How can I Adjust settings on my Samsung BD-P1400 Blu-ray Player?
I need to make some adjustments on my Samsung BD-P1400 Blu-ray Player. How can I do that? The Remote that came with it is a little long. What button should I press? Please Help.
A: Go into "Menu" when the player gets turned on without any disc inside the player. Select "Set-Up" and you should be able to adjust picture and audio settings to get the most out of your player.
your remote will either say Menu or Setup and an onscreen guide will pop up onto the screen, allowing you to easily navigate the setup options.
Q: how do you upload firmware to a samsung blu-ray player? If with a disc, which one should i purchase?
A: go to samsung web site download . burn to dvd play dvd in player
I should have asked first if dvd's play in your player
Q: i found a samsung blu ray player at a bjs that had all the of the speaker outlets needed to plug my six ?
speakers in from my previous surround sound system will it give me a true surround sound or would i have to plug those outlets into a surround sound amp witch then would feed my speakers?
A: this depends on the model of player.
The main thing to look for is what modes the player has and the watts per channel.
My suggestion is that you don't do a combo player and receiver. If one part breaks you lose the whole thing.

Q: My Samsung Blu Ray player is stuck on load with no Disk inside.
My Samsung Blu Ray player is stuck on load with no Disk inside. Happened after a firmware update.?

Q: is the samsung blu ray player multi regional??
can the bd-p1000 samsung blu ray player play all region dvds?
thanks
A: The first response is partly right -- the Samsung Blu-Ray player is NOT region free -- but also wrong in that Blu-Ray as a format is REGION SPECIFIC (See link). HD DVD is, as of yet, NOT region specific.
Q: Should i keep the "Movie Frame (24 Fs)" Setting on my Samsung Blu Ray player?
Just wanted to know whats better to have the setting on or off?
A: Yes, if your TV supports it and you are watching a Hollywood filmed movie. Check your TV specs to see if it is 1080P/24 FPS capable. If not leave it off.
Q: BD-P1400 from Samsung (Blu Ray Player)??
I have the BD-P1400 Blu Ray Player from Samsung... My question is: I know BD-Live is out now, but I am confused if I will get those features on my Blue Ray Player..If I can get it, how do I do so??
A: Unfortunately you will not. That player is only BD profile 1.0 and a firmware upgrade will not get you the BD live functionality. It's a hardware issue, not a software issue.
Sorry.
