Q: Question on SAMSUNG color laser printer?
In MetroManila, SAMSUNG is offering lower priced printers. Please for actual users of SAMSUNG color laser printers, what is the overall performance ( good and bad ) of this printer ? Is the toner cartridge expensive ? What is the quality of the printout ? Your comments will guide me in choosing a color laser printer. Thank you.

A: I have a Samsung CLP 300 Color printer and from experience, the Samsung CLP 300 does the job well. I have it for 5 months now and I use it mainly to print shipping labels and packing slips (about 20 pages per week). According to the log, there is still 75-79 % of the original toner remaining hence it's economical. The printer never jammed perhaps I go out of my way to buy a quality paper no lower than 20 lb, I mainly use 24 lb paper. As for color printing, it prints close to color on the screen when printed on regular paper. Prints on photo paper is not bad but of course the printer is not meant for photo printing. I have not bought toner cartridge replacement yet but it costs around $100 or more for the 4-pack black and color set.

Q: If I buy a Samsung color laser printer...?
...do I need to buy all of the toner colors for it to work, or can I just buy black toner for now? Thank you all, I had heard I need all the cartridges, adding considerably to the price. I also read reviews saying the printing wasn't that clear, that even regular black letters are fuzzy, which did not sound good.

A: If you buy the Samsung CLP300, CLX2160, CLX3160 of the CLP500, then you will need to have a full set of cartridges installed. However, there are generic toner cartridges being made for these printers now and the price is a lot less than originals. Printer manufactures cannot, by law, void your warranty if you don't use original cartridges.

A: I would go with the Samsung CLP 315 the 300 is a Pretty slow printer not relay good for anything but black prints I have used one at work. the 315 offers a little better imaging and speed. It is still not as good as a more expensive lazer printer, but if you are choosing between the two fo for the 315. It is an upgrade of the 300.

I ordered a Samsung color laser CLP-300N online. After 24 hours The dealer sent me an email saying the Samsung was on backorder but they would substitute the Xerox 6110N. They stated that Xerox makes the CLP series printers for Samsung. Looking at the stats and physical dim. for both printers they do look identical. I've searched online for several hours this morning trying to find something in B & W that supports what the dealer is saying but have not found anything. I asked the dealer for supporting doc. on this but have net heard back from them. Thanks in advance for any info!

A: You most likely will not find anything online about this, if it is true. While the Printer companies do make printers for each other (all of Dell's printers are from lexmark and Samsung), they really do not promote it. On a side note, while the CLP-300N is a cheap color printer, the cost per page is really high, and a friend of mine who has it would love to use it for target practice. Why? Slow, would not print out his business cards. Look at the HP Officejet Pro K5400 series.

A: That is generally an issue with the drum unit or the image transfer belt, without physically seeing the page, or knowing what your page count is it is hard to determine which one. Call samsung, they actually have fairly decent customer support.

A: It may still be the driver. Even though you downloaded the latest from the site, sounds like it's still a problem. Q: "Handle not valid" Samsung CLP-300...?
Just bought a Samsung CLP-300 color laser printer. The only thing that it has printed so far is the test page that came from the setup. Anything else I try to print gives me a "handle not valid" or "could not start print job" or "printing failed when starting the document" error. The light is not flashing red (anymore), but is green. Shouldn't that mean there is nothing wrong? I have an XP PC.

A: Can you print to any other printers? It sounds to me like you are using an incorrect driver. If you have tried to reload the driver, rebooted the pc, rebooted the printer, and can print to other printers I would exchange it for a new one.
