Q: Is the problem with my samsung lcd tv fixable without having to replace the lcd display?
While watching my 2 year old samsung LCD tv, several clusters of pixels (6 of them roughly 4"x4" each) began to gradually flicker rapidly back and fourth with different colors that do not match the rest of picture- it looks like little chunks of colorful static in several locations. Ideas as to the problem? Fixable without replacing the LCD?
A: its actually under the manufactures warrenty i know exactly what your talking about
basically what they do is split the screen into 4 quadrants and when you send it in they fix the quadrants
ummm samsung typically does 1 year warrentys
but if you bought and extended one from the store you bought it from take it back and they SHOULD take care of the problem
Q: Why does my Samsung LCD TV screen have a blue tone when I connect peripherals using component cables?
I have a 19-inch Samsung flat-screen LCD TV. When I connect peripherals (DVD player, XBox 360, etc.) through the component ports, everything has a blue-ish tone to it. I know it's not the component cables themselves because I've tried 3 different sets of component cables and they all have the same blue tone result. So I'm guessing there's something wrong with the TV itself. If I connect things through other ports (S-Video, Composite, DVI, etc.), everything is fine. Could I possibly have changed a setting on my TV by mistake to make everything blue when connecting things through the component ports? Or is this just an issue with the TV itself? Thanks in advance for the help.
A: Sometimes a Samsung LCD can push blue if you have your color settings on "Cool" - and for that matter, ALL TV's have a color push out of the box.
If you want to reduce the blue push, try changing from "Cool" to "Warm" in your picture settings.
Also, check to see if you're receiving blue as a result of your component settings not receiving a "red" or "green" picture. Sometimes it takes a moment to notice, but blue will be pushed because red or green aren't transmitting from your source content (DVD player, or whatever) to your TV.
If that doesn't help, try calling Samsung's toll free phone number - 800-SAMSUNG during M-F normal business hours. That number connects you to one of the three offices in the United States, which is cool that you aren't being rerouted to India.
Good luck to you!
Q: How do I stop ghosting and temporary burn in on my Samsung LCD TV?
I have a Samsung LE26R41B 26" LCD TV.
However, I notice 'ghosting' on dark pictures (like in some games, night times in films for example).
Also, temporary burn in happens a LOT, like for leaving a picture on for 5 minutes sometimes!
Can these be stopped or reduced?
A: make sure all connections are hand tightend and the less amount of games, vcr/dvd players it goes through, the better the signal, unless, which i do, use rca connections for ur games and vcr/dvd player, or an s-video cord.
Q: Recording TV programs using Dell Desktop on a Samsung LCD TV?
I have a Samsung LCD TV and a Dell Desktop
How do I record Digital TV programs on to my hard disk? What do I need to achieve this?
Can anyone add specific things I need for both the TV and the desktop. As the LCD TV has built in freeview and several HDMI ports.
I am really confused. I dont need the tv tuner or anything? Which software can i use thats free?
A: You'll need a TV tuner card (internal or USB). You'll be able to record OTA digital TV, or from a SAT or Cable box, but only in SD.
Update
If your computer does not have a TV tuner (most don't), you'll have to add one. If you're interested in doing so (about $100), email me at jjki_11738 and I'll try to help you.

Q: How much do I have to pay as custom to but a 32 samsung LCD TV from US?
I was wondering if anyone now how much I will be paying to custom if I buy a brand new samsung 32" LCD TV from US? ( price that I will buy is c700.
A: You'll have to contact CRA to find the duty (if any). If it's built outside the US or Mexico, and it almost certainly is, you'll have to pay duty.
You'll also pay GST and are responsible for PST (they don't usually collect that at the border, you are 'required' to submit it yourself in most cases). Of course, if you're from Quebec or (I think) NB, it will be collected as part of the harmonized sales tax along with GST.
All those taxes are on the landed price, after duties, btw.

Q: How do I play my ps2 on my 52-inch Samsung LCD TV?
I hoooked up my ps2 to my 52-inch Samsung LCD TV and the picture is blurry? like I'm talkin very blurry, is there some kind of setting I have to use to play ps2 clearly on the 52-inch?
A: Might be that your playing an old game with standard resolution and/or you have it connected to your TV with a mediocre (standard) video cable. You can use component cables; Sony has one for the PS2 and there is also 3rd party ones but obviously you want to go with the Sony brand. Some games support progressive scan (with component cables) and they look better than regular definition games played on a composite and/or S-video. Also some HDTV's (like LCD's and Plasma's) make your PS2 games (that do not support progressive scan) look worse than a regular TV, specially if they're bigger than 42in. This also happens with (most) regular standard/non digital channel programing (though HD channels obviously look great -also with component or HDMI cables hooked up) . DLP HDTV's don't suffer from this problem(s) but is an older, less popular technology because most DLP TV's (if not al)l are not flat (body wise not screen wise) and therefor bulkier (not to mention a lot more heavier) and consume more space and energy.
Like I said try component video cables (they have a green, blue, red, white and red connection tip) they improve the picture quality and are built for HDTV's and forget those standard composite cables (with the yellow, white and red tips) since these cables video input/output was meant for standard (non HD) TV's.
Q: PS3 connection to Samsung lcd tv via HDMI cable?
We have a ps3 connected to a samsung lcd tv via a HDMI cable. The sound settings are to HD but the sound keeps going off and on. Any ideas?
Tried that Jaguar but the ps3 has to be on for the hdmi connection to be highlighted? Maybe it's a dodgy cable? Are HDMI cables that sensitive?
Still playing up! Changed HDMI and it works on our Sony HD tv, Playstation3 ok so TV must be the problem. Spoke to Samsung and they werent sure so I'll pop into a local Samsung repair centre to ask if they knew what it could be. Tv suppports 1080i nd HD sp I dont know what it is?
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
A: It could be that you have the settings set too high for the TV. Go to sound options and set them to the lowest (Stereo 44.1kHz) your TV should be able to play this.
Q: How do I use the Picture in Picture on my Samsung LCD TV?
I have a 32" Samsung LNR328W LCD Flat Panel HDTV. I know it has the capability but I can't figure it out.
A: Try reading the manual that came with it.
Q: Is there any way of connecting a Playstation 2 to a Samsung LCD TV via HDMI?
And if so, would the picture quality increase? Also can you suggest the best way to connect a playstation 2 to a LCD tv giving the best picture possible!
A: About the best you can do with the PS2 is 480p (enhanced defenition) via a component cable (red, green ,blue) and at the same time the game itself must support 480p, God of war 2 for example. You will get a pretty good picture this way.
Q: I purchased a samsung lcd tv and a sony home theater system but have no sound.?
I used an hdmi cable from the tv to the hts and then another hdmi cable to the dish receiver.. I also don't get fm on my tuner.
I d ohave sound on my tv but not from my surround sound system. I did a noise check and that did seem to work.
A: Try this
HDMI from Dish directly to TV
Digital audio (optical or coax) from Dish to AVR
To get FM, you will need an antenna
Q: Any one buy the Samsung LCD tv with 120 mhz?
I'm looking to buy a LCD tv and have the Samsung 550 and 650 in mind. The biggest difference between the two that I can tell is that the 650 has 120 mhz and the 550 doesn't. I have read that the 120 mhz comes into play when watching fast action scenes or sports and prevents blurring. My question is, is it really with the extra money and will i notice the difference?
Thanks!
A: LCD technology produces two artifacts with on screen motion.
1) Motion Jitter - this is the most obnoxious of the LCD motion artifacts; it produces shaky, jittery trailing edges on moving objects. Best seen with scrolling credits at the end of a movie.
2) Motion Blur - stretches the moving object out behind the image, best seen with high contrast between the moving object and the background.
120 Hz does a good job with the removal of jitter. 120 Hz does a poor job on the removal of motion blur. In fact, the 120 Hz motion compensation co-processors do not have the processing power to complete their calculations under all live sporting event and movie scenes. They can and often do produce their own artifacts called halo (incomplete background processing) on the trailing side of moving objects. I find halo artifacts to be as obnoxious as jitter and recommend that you turn 120 Hz OFF during a movie, therefore, 120 Hz will be of some limited benefit during sports programs and gaming. Is this feature worth the price and complexity? That is subjective and a decision that only you can make. Come into my shop in Crystal Lake, Il. and I would be more than happy to show you a demonstration of jitter, blur and 120 Hz operation and then you could make-up your own mind as to the effectiveness of 120 Hz. Most of my customers are shocked when they see the truth!
