Q: Wiring a T23 Thinkpad to a HD Widescreen Samsung TV via S Video cable?
I have a T23 Thinkpad, Default setting, Default Hardware, 512-RAM. S Video Cord (no audio cables) is connected through laptop to Samsung HD TV, 2006 Model. I click "fn" && "F7", it continues to Display no signal. I tried lowering the video settings to 600X800, nothing still. I also switched the HDTV to 4:3 ratio, still nothing. What Do I need, drivers? I can't change default monitor setting via the display menu, button is "grayed-out". Do I need the cable that S-Video on one end and analog cables on the other?

A: First of all, WHY??? Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you should. Now, You need to fit a keystroke comvbo to output to svhs, usually it is Fntcn F8, but different mfgrs have different combos. NEXT you need to set the TV input to input from SVIDEO instead of internal tuner. I'm asuming you have your media center all set up with your internal (PC) tuner card. You should not have to download drivers, but you will probably have to "massage in settings, once it is up and running.

Q: Can I replace the screen on my 46" samsung rear projection widescreen TV?
My three year old went all supernanny on us and destroyed the screen by dousing it with windex. I am hoping I can replace the screen rather than the whole $1600 TV. Thank you all for your input

A: It's true...Those plexiglass layers can just pop right out...You're looking at around $200-$600 to get them swapped out...It's not a big deal if just the FIRST layer is ruined.

Q: I have a 50" Samsung widescreen TV. It is hooked up to Dish Network.?
When I watch TV, the two bars that come out seem to be burned on my TV. When you remove the bars, you can see a U shaped version on my TV, right below wher the bars used to be. When I press info on the remote, the bars seem to duplicate on my screen. Is there anything I can do to fix my TV? Change cables or am I screwed.

A: I'VE BEEN IN THE SATELLITE/TV BUSINESS FOR 14 YEARS. MAYBE I CAN HELP. CHECK AND SEE HOW YOUR SATELLITE RECEIVER IS HOOKED UP TO YOUR TV. THERE ARE SEVERAL WAYS: USING COAX (CABLE) WIRE ON CHANNEL 3 OR 4, USING RED/WHITE/YELLOW COMPONENT WIRES, WITH OR WITHOUT AN S-VIDEO WIRE ON A VIDEO INPUT, OR IF YOU HAVE A HIGH DEFINITION RECEIVER, USING RED/GREEN/BLUE COMPONENT WIRES, OR AN HDMI WIRE, OR ON OLDER BIG SCREEN TVS, A DVI WIRE. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE AN HD RECEIVER, IT'S GOING TO BE A LITTLE EASIER TO CORRECT YOUR PROBLEM. IF YOU'RE USING A CABLE WIRE BETWEEN THE RECEIVER AND TV, TRY USING A SET OF RED/WHITE/YELLOW WIRES, WITH OR WITHOUT AN S-VIDEO WIRE BETWEEN THE RECEIVER AND THE TV. YOU'LL NEED TO CHANGE THE TV FROM USING CHANNEL 3 OR 4 TO ONE OF YOUR VIDEO INPUTS. MOST BIG SCREEN TVS HAVE MULTIPLE OPTIONS. CHECK AND SEE WHICH PORT YOU'RE CONNECTED TO ON THE BACK OF THE TV AND USE THE INPUT /SOURCE/AV BUTTON ON YOUR REMOTE TO TOGGLE BETWEEN THE DIFFERENT INPUTS UNTIL YOU SEE A PICTURE FROM YOUR SATELLITE RECEIVER. MAKE SURE YOUR RECEIVER IS TURNED ON. YOU DIDN'T STATE HOW OLD YOUR TV IS. IT'S ALSO POSSIBLE THAT IT'S SIMPLY DEFECTIVE AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. IF YOU ARE USING AN HD RECEIVER WITH AN HDMI WIRE OR A DVI WIRE, YOU MAY JUST NEED TO GET A NEW WIRE TO CONNECT THE RECEIVER TO THE TV. AFTER YOU'VE TRIED MY SUGGESTIONS, YOU CAN EMAIL ME WITH ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS. GOOD LUCK. IF NONE OF THE ABOVE WORK, TV TECHMAN'S SUGGESTION MAY BE RIGHT. THE ALTERNATIVE IS A NEW TV.

Q: Is my Samsung WS32Z30P Widescreen Tv High Def?
I have heard that my slim fit Tv although will receve a HD signal does not display a HD picture. It says in the documentation that its HD Ready but does not say that it does or doesnt display it, and it has the HDready logo printed on the side of the TV. It work well with my XBOX 360 in 1080i but Im not convinced, I dont want to be getting anything like SKY HD if my it wont display it. Whats the point.??

A: yes it does come with hd ready........ But been a crt, and having tested with an upscaling dvd player, to be honest with you it wasn't much cope. But better then not having it!!!!! BUT you do have a slimfit crt, 32 widescreen, hd ready that cost around £450 so thats a bonus. hope this helps wg

Q: Is there a distorted picture on a widescreen TV? I just bought a 26" Samsung LCD, and I could swear the faces
are stretched out wide. Is this true? What would be the benefit of having a distorted picture? Is there an LCD of this size that is not distorted? I'm thinking of taking it back.

A: Try changing the format. I bought a 62" Mitsubishi and when I first turned it on, it was all distorted. I read the owner's manual and found the button on the remote to change the format. You should be able to do the same thing. I think some of the options are stretch, stretch plus, standard, zoom, etc. But find the one that looks most appealing to you. I use standard and it looks fine.

Q: Why does my widescreen tv not display my dvd's correctly?
I have a 40" Samsung TV and a Magnavox upconverting DVD player connected by an HDMI cable. When I watch a movie on it, the video is displayed shorter than it should be, so I have large black borders above and below, and the video is noticeably compressed vertically. I've tried using different output modes from the DVD player and different display modes on my TV, but nothing seems to help. Local HDTV signal shows up perfectly. Is there something that I should be doing differently? Thanks.

A: There could be a couple of things that could result is the picture looking compressed. The first setting you want to check is that the DVD player output is set to 16:9 as opposed to 4:3. Another thing may be if you have full screen movies versus widescreen movies. If the box doesn't specifically say then look for a picture ratio of either 1:1.85 or 1:2.35. Those are both widescreen ratios, if it isn't either of those, then you have a full screen movie and your player is stretching out the picture to make it into a widescreen picture. nother thing to consider is if the widescreen ratio is 1:2.35 you will still see black borders on the top and bottom of your widescreen TV because that ratio is a wider screeen than your widescreen.

Q: question about widescreen tv?
ok, so i bought a samsung widescreen tv. and i popped in a widescreen movie, and there are still the black bars on either side of the picture!!! i thought widescreen movies are made for widescreen televisions??!!! whats up with this??? what can i do 2 fix this??

A: Feature films are not in 16:9 ratio more often than not which is why you still get the bars. You can usually "stretch" the picture to fit the screen but you will not be watching the film as the director intended and it makes the people short and squatty. weeder

Q: Hi, has anyone got the Samsung TV ws32z408, its a 32 inch widescreen NONE HD TV, is it any good?

A: I bought the WS32Z419D HD set yesterday and I'm very happy with it. Good picture, good sound, easy setup. HEAVY! But then what you'd expect for a 32" CRT. MUCH better picture quality that ANY LCD or Plasma screens on the market currently - no nasty dithering. And at £500 in Currys, it's a steal! The 409 is a whole £50 cheaper in Comet, but why would you not want the 1080i capability as you're buying a TV at the start of a new technology burst? J

Q: Can a Samsung - 19" Widescreen Flat-Panel LCD Monitor - High-Gloss Black be used as a tv?
Can a Samsung - 19" Widescreen Flat-Panel LCD Monitor - High-Gloss Black be used as a tv?

A: no, because it has no build in tuner that's why monitor cost so less than actual tv, but all your need is tv tuner, can be either pci card or usb can perform as good as tv some tuner allowed your to even plug to your console system.

Q: Samsung LCD....monitor or TV? What to get?
Hello Yahoo Answerers, I would like to get a LCD Monitor that doubles as a TV...or a LCD TV that doubles as a monitor. I've decided that I definitely want a Samsung 22" Widescreen LCD...TV or Monitor, but I'm unsure if the benefits of a Samsung "TV" really outweigh the cheaper price of a Samsung "monitor." Which do you think I should go for? A TV with a PC input or a Monitor with a TV input? And is it really worth a few hundred dollars more to get the TV for the remote and built in speakers? Can anyone share their experience with this? Thanks in advance!

A: Sure, I can asnwer this question. The real question is what are you trying to do. For the longest time I used my samung 32inch lcd tv as my mintor and a tv. If you ar trying to do split screen I would recommend the TV. If you are looking at quality of (tv) picture I would recommend that route as well. Now on the other hand if your just looking to save space and picture quality for the tv does not really matter then a TV tuner for your PC may be the best way to go. Now I no longer get to use my TV as my monitor (a woman came into the picture) So I bought my self a samsung 22inch lcd monitor. Like I said though it depends on how much or how little you put and PUSH on your TV picture. I also use a Tv tuner now on my computer since I can no longer get my tv over here(women again) The quality is good but never as good as a regular tv for it. If you have any question you may ask. BTW my samsung tv was this model(LSN 32d) and my monitor (syncmaster 226bw) Good Luck

Q: I'm in the market for a LCD TV, I like the Samsung 40" Widescreen (LNT4042H)any views on this TV?

A: If you value support, reliability, and picture quality then Samsung and Philips/Magnavox including all walmart tvs,vizio,insignia,orion.. products is NOT for YOU. Samsung and Philips/Magnavox have the highest failure rates that happen right after warranty. If you value support, reliability and picture quality then there are only a few brands that actually back their product up. Those are Sony,Toshiba,Panasonic,Pioneer, Mitsubishi's support is declining, but make good tvs.

Q: My tv cuts the sides off when I have it in 16:9 format?
I have a samsung 30inch widescreen tv slim fit. on my ps3 I use a HD-MI cable it cuts the sides off when in 16:9 format it also does it with movies and games. but when I switch it to 4:3 I can see everything but I like watching in full screen why is it cutting the screen off in 16:9 format.

A: Make sure the PS3 is set to output a 16:9 widescreen image. The TV should not have to be set on any stretch or zoom mode.

Q: Can you turn the blue light off that surrounds the power button on a Samsung TV?
Got a Samsung 32" Widescreen LCD HDTV (LNS3292)

A: Sadly, no. I just plug out the tv cord before I sleep, so the blue light doesn't freak me out.

Q: Is a 27" Samsung Widescreen Flat-Panel LCD HDTV LN-S3252D big enough for a living room that's 12'x16'....
Is this TV large enough for a living room this size or the 32" Samsung TV. The prices are $1169.10 for the 26" and $1558.79 this is my first time buying a tv and my first apt please help?

A: i got about a 16x16 living room and i got a 32in tv.i wouldn`t go much bigger then 36 or 37...that's just me. you can go to walmart and get the same size for alot less money, check it out , before you buy it

Q: How can I get my TV screen spotless?
I recently bought a Samsung 32 inch widescreen TV and on the glass there is a residue of some kind that I can't get rid of. It has feint horizontal lines too as if some protective film was attached. I can wipe it all off with glass cleaner but it immediately comes back as though I never cleaned it. Does anyone know what will get it spotless?

A: I hope you are referring to a crt and not an lcd tv!!?? Don't use anything but special cleaning wipes or spray for lcd or you will damage the plastic. If it's glass, use an anti-static foam cleaner from Maplins or similar.
