Q: Does anyone know out of the Zune MP3 player or the Sony MP3 player which is better?
I want to but an MP3 player but am stuck between the Zune (by microsoft) or a Sony. I have all Sony electronics and am very happy with them, but have heard nothing about the Sony MP3 player. I have heard many good reviews on the Zune. Anyone have any info they can give me that would be great! Thanks!

Zunes are awesome, I love them. I'd go for the Zune hands down.

Samsung is number one in quality in the world now so how coud Sony fall this easily. Once Samsung makes an entertainment system. Sony is screwed in every market!
A: I guess the Koreans just set out to be the best and are succeeding. I drive two Hyundai cars and I think they are a much better value than Toyota, Honda, or Nissan. I also have and LG washer and dryer and they are the best around as well.

hockeyman.. I do have a wii already, but I want a PS3 also. Wii needs to come out with some good games fast. Im sick of all those dumb cartoon games coming out like ratitoulli and junk. But thats nintendo for you ,always having to make a video game after a cartoon movie.
A: I had to say, thats one of the silliest rumor I ever heard.....Ps3 runs the same with ANY electronic Sony or not....my ps3 is connected to a Panasonic 24" hdtv and it works awesome and the sound system is JVC 5.1 300W and is pretty powerful.

A: Hi, yes Sony has competition, and whom, depends on what market you are looking at. Sony playstation faces rivals nintendo and microsoft with their wii and xbox 360 consoles respectively. SOny electronics consumer faces rivals from all areas, i.e. mp3 playes the greatest competetion is apple with the ipod, with televisions, there are a number of mass produced cheap alternatives and Sony has to balance the superior quality product versus lower price alternatives available in the market place. some people are only interested in buying the cheapest product avaialble, some are interested in the best quality and some are interested in a balance between the two! To try and 'balance' the sony offering they bought out aiwa and sell aiwa products (stil lwith the aiwa badge) to have an offering at the 'low end of the consumer electronics price bracket). Sony also operate in the professional markets, i.e. broadcast and medical markets, and the competition varies from country to country!
Q: What on earth went wrong at Sony so they went from champs to chumps in the electronics game in only a year?
Even as recent as 5 or 6 years ago, Sony was the ace electronics company, anything they made was top notch, jam packed full of functions and features other brands' devices never had and were rugged and long lasting to boot, but then something happened and they are now as crummy as Emerson or White-Westinghouse! What happened to them is what I could never tell, did they have some executive scandal, or did one of their founders pass away and they lost the last guy who knew how to do things right? Did they sink a bunch of money into some new project and lost their shirts when it failed? I can't see how the electronics company that used to have the best incarnation of whatever electronic device I wanted (and often times were the people who invented it) and usually made the best example of any electronic gadget you felt like buying has plummeted from being the creme de la creme to a company noted for its mediocre cell phones and overpriced video game consoles that cause riots...
Oh I love the PS2, its the PSP and the PS3 I can't understand, why cram all the crappy PS1 games no one really liked the first time around into a finnicky little handheld, and why make a new PlayStation when the PS2 still has awesome looking graphics, and a huge library of games to pick from?
I don't know about the PS3, I still think the PS2 is plenty kicka-ss as a video game console, plus its impossible to find a demo PS3 in a store to check it out firsthand to see just whether it is and improvement over the PS2 which IMO would be tough to outdo. The scarcity of a demo PS3 display in any store I usually go to makes me feel like they are worried people will find out its bogus, but BEFORE they blow $500 on one to find out.

Q: What's with sony and their different formats of electronics like Memory Stick PRO Duo and UMD...?
I don't get it why sony always does completely different formats like Umd vs. game blocks/minidisc, memory stick duo vs. SD memory, blue-ray vs. hd dvd, and other things... All it does is make us use more money buying two different formats when they are practically the same. Why not just go with the flow and make it easy for everyone?

A: I think Sony makes enough money already by selling good quality electronics at significantly high prices. I still like Sony but I don't know why Sony couldn't support SD memory cards (Sony uses MemorySticks), HD-DVDs (Sony uses Blu-ray), VHS (Sony used Betamax when VHS was first out), DVD audio (Sony uses SACD), etc. but instead they come up with their own formats for each of those when they're practically the same thing. It just makes the non technical people confused when there is stupid format wars like this! Sony started most of the format wars like Betamax vs. VHS, Blu-ray vs. HD-DVD, SACD vs. DVD Audio, etc. I agree with you 100%.

A: They were great about ten years ago, but they garnered a lot of ill-will with their anti-piracy efforts (putting rootkits on CDs, etc.). I'd say Apple makes the top-notch stuff now.
