A: There aren't many Vaio's that are new at that price since its more of a higher-end model of laptop. If your trying to find a quality laptop under a grand that would compete with a Vaio in terms of system performance, I would consider Gateway. Their new laptops rival the performance and price of Vaio's greatly.

How can I disable the sony vaio start up sound? Not the windows start up, but the actual start up / power on sound / jingle that is the first thing you hear when you turn on a vaio.

A: Are you trying to use the Mits as a computer monitor or watch movies through it? Hook up the Sony to the computer input on the Mitsubishi with a vga cable just like you would with a regular computer monitor. Then set tv input to VGA or whatever the Mitsubishi refers to it as.

A: Get the Japanese one. Japan has better quality generally, and I would buy Japanese every time. Probably cause China uses poor deprived workers and don't really care about the quality of their products, just the cost and saleability. Practically you'll probably never notice the difference though.
Q: Can you upgrade the Sony Vaio LT graphics card?
I have the new all in one Sony Vaio LT25E and these all come with an NVIDIA GEForce 8400M GT graphics card. My question is, Can I upgrade this. I have a Intel Core 2 Duo processor at 1.66Ghz and 3GB of ram. On my old Vaio I could watch Tv in the background while I played EQ2. Now the windows media player gets all choppy when I try to do that. Any suggestions?
A: No, the graphics on that model can't be upgraded. You can take it to Best Buy and have an optimization performed on it for $29. That will make it perform about 10-15 percent faster overall. Maybe try upgrading the ram to 4GB also.
Q: How do I get sound drivers for my Japanese sony vaio?
I bought a sony vaio laptop in Japan, it was in Japanese so I took that off and put the English windows on, the sound drivers were lost in the process, my computer just dosen't have them. I spoke to sony and they said I would need to send the computer back to japan to get it sorted, have looked on all the websites, including sony vaio Japan and there are no drivers to download, the ones I tried didn't work. A friend said I could get a soundcard and it would work, is this right? What alse can I do? Thanks

Q: My Sony Vaio is really slow and really loud now what should I do?
I bought a used Sony Vaio and for a few months it worked fine and ran quietly. But now, all of a sudden, the hard drive is making a LOT more noise, to the point where it is annoying, and it;s running a lot slower. Everything is taking a lot longer to load. What could be wrong with it, and what can I do?

If your virus/spyware free, there are a couple things you can do get your computer working faster. If you using your computer for normal stuff and not gaming. You don't always need more RAM you just need to perform a few maintenance task.
First, if you haven't cleaned your registry in a while. This is necessary. Your registry holds all the information regarding updates, installs, un-installs etc. Each one of those events produces a key. That key needs your PC's resources and free space. So, if you clean your registry, you make more resources available for speed. Do a registry scan if you got more than 20 errors you should clean it.

2. Clear your Windows cache files, this is your temporary file. It can grow up to a large volume and stop your computer from using RAM properly. In a sense slow it down by preventing it from using free space.Here is how:
1. Quit Internet Explorer, Firefox, or any other web browser

3. On the General tab, click "Delete Files" under Temporary Internet Files.

A: I'd buy a new one for that price. "Refurbished" means it's been returned to the factory for one reason or another.Sometimes no reason at all. People can be stupid.
You can get a nice new computer for that price range.

Q: How come I can view but cannot broadcast with my Sony VAIO in built webcam to my friends on yahoo msn?
I have just purchased a Sony Vaio VGN CR13G/P and I can view my webcam but cannot broadcast it so that my friends/contacts can view. It keeps trying to connect but times out. Go to "tools"..."Manage Add ons" and make sure everything is enabled. Also check your firewall setting to ensure the camera software has access.

Q: How to reinstall Windows XP from recovery disc in a Sony Vaio Laptop?
The Sony Vaio recovery disc contains all Sony software + Windows XP installation files. Sony Web pages never show any support for this problem. Is there any way to reinstall a corrupt Windows XP, without installing the rest of other softwares?
A: If your copy of Windows XP is corrupt this probably means that your hard drive is failing. So back up your data first (also in case the recovery process wipes it). If you don't like the Sony software you can uninstall it.

A: If you only have the one computer , you don't need a router. Just plug directly into your modem. Linksys, Dlink, or Belkin are very reasonable and dependable. Whichever is most readily available and best price.
If you are planning on wireless get a wireless modem from your provider or you can get any of the above in a wireless version.
